What is the Christians Perspective?
There are bible verses that relate to the shoe industry and its economic decisions and there are some that say we are the stewards of the earth, not the owners such as these...
"God said "let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in sky, over
the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."-Genesis 1:26.
"The lord god took a man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and take care of it."-Genesis 2:15
The shoe industry doesn't follow by these bible verses, as they overuse animals, use up fossil fuels that cannot be reused and they pollute the environment. Although Stella McCartney designs vegetarian shoes that don't use leather or fur. Adidas is also trying to make a difference to the environmental impact that it has by aiming to save energy, save water, reduce the use of non-renewable resources, reduce waste and improve the environmental footprint that Adidas is leaving. Christians do not believe that the shoe industry should kill animals and ruin the environment just to make shoes. However they do believe that the shoe industry should care about the environment and think about the economic decisions that they are making.
