What Is The Impact On Humans?
The shoe industry has positive and negative impacts on people as well. The shoe industry provides protection for your feet from sharp objects and rough ground. It also provides help on slippery ground and lets us grip on to the slippery ground. It helps sports people run without worrying about sharps and can help them run faster. The economic decision here is that they have decided to make different shoes specifically for specific things like running or hiking to make more money by selling different things. Another positive impact is that the shoe industry provides jobs for poor people so that they can eat and have a home. The economic decision here is that they need people to work for them to save time which saves money. A negative impact is that most shoes are made in sweatshops. Sweatshops are factories that workers work at for long hours, low wages and poor conditions. The economic decision that the shoe industry makes is allowing people to work very long hours for low wages and in incredibly poor conditions so that they don't have to pay as much therefore making more money. When shoes are thrown out, the chemicals used in the manufacturing process leak out into the soil and water which contaminates the plants, soil and water. If humans eat the contaminated plants or drink the contaminated water it can lead to health problems such as cancer. The economic decision here is that they use the cheap chemicals to make the shoes because they are cheap therefore the shoe industry saves money. The air pollution caused by the chemicals burnt in the manufacturing process is dangerous for humans that breathe in the air that is polluted. Lots of sickness and disease is caused by the chemicals in the air such as lung disease. The economic decision that the shoe industry makes is that they still burn the cheap fuels instead of the more expensive fuels that are more environmentally friendly. Another negative impact is that some people, mainly women, over spend on shoes. Therefore they can go over budget or go broke because they overspent on shoes. This can lead to people being homeless or starving. This is an economic decision that the shoe industry has made because they choose to create an overly wide selection of shoes that women can spend all of their money on. Imelda Marcos was one of these people with a collection of over one thousand pairs of shoes.
